What is Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration?

Perpetual Adoration is the continuing action of worshipping our God, specifically in the Eucharist. It is our response to Jesus’ love for us, by which we are invited to spend one hour a week praying before the Eucharistic presence of Jesus Christ as He is reserved in the tabernacle. We make individual commitments of time to pray for ourselves, others, the Church, the world, all mankind, etc.

The presence of Jesus Christ in the Blessed Sacrament (the Eucharist) is a reminder of His continual presence among us. He says in the Gospel of Matthew 28:20: “I am with you always, until the end of the age.” This presence is a reminder of His coming to us in human form, dwelling among us, and offering us the hope of salvation. He came to guide us to heaven and also to feed us with His Body and Blood as we continue our earthly journeys to eternal life. Jesus is the “…bread of life…” (John 6:35).

Strange as it may sound, when we believe in the Real Presence, we believe in things twice unseen. We see only what looks like bread and wine, tastes and smells like bread and wine, and yet we believe that behind these physical appearances is a man: Faith number one. And we further believe that behind the unseen man is God: Faith number two.

Adoration includes every form of prayer, including the petitions by which we ask God for what we need and for what others need. Therefore, a Book of Intentions will include personal requests. There will also be an additional book of Prayers Answered, whereby each blessing bestowed will be recorded and documented for the future.

Our parish is preparing to answer this call and never leave the Blessed Sacrament alone. A committed, prayerful Adorer will attend one hour of every week. We hope that you will feel the need to help us perpetuate this unbroken chain of faith.

Why should we adore?
Adorers desire to build a more intense and loving relationship with Jesus by offering one or more hours per week to worship in the intimate presence of God. This allows us to ask for blessings, willingly consenting to spend a quiet holy hour in His Eucharistic Presence once a week at the same time every week. To have a source of contemplative comfort, hope and solace at a time of real need. Christ has done His part by coming to us – now we must go to Him.

There are many personal reasons that a multitude of people make this extraordinary effort, such as: Worship, Temporal and Spiritual Petitions, Thanksgiving, Forgiveness, Reparation, Offering & Sacrifice, Testimonials, Silence and Contemplation. But most have come before the Lord to build a solid and enduring relationship with Him. It is a closer, more intimate relationship with God. The closer we get, the greater our joy will be.

Where do we adore?
The Reservation Chapel, located behind the Risen Christ sculpture, at the northernmost part of the Church is a quiet, contemplative space set aside for this purpose.

When do we adore?
Perpetually. Every hour of every day…24 hours a day,..7 days a week.

Is the Reservation Chapel always open?
It is open to the public from the hours of 8am to 4:00pm. The doors are locked after that time and a Security access card is needed for access. If you need an access card, please let us know via this website.

Is it safe at night?
Yes. There is a fully alarmed security system, with access from the outside only by key card. It is well lit and has parking along the entrance on both sides of the door.

What do I do in an emergency situation?
There is a list of emergency phone numbers that you may call – in addition to calling the Hour Coordinator. Our chapel phone will be installed soon.

How do I volunteer?
You may enroll on-line (see the “Become an Adorer” link). Or you may fill out an Invitation to Adore (copies available in the Reservation Chapel) with pertinent contact information and your first and second preferences for the hour you would like to request.

Can I have a prayer partner in case I cannot attend?
Yes. We highly encourage you to sign up with someone who can take your place in the event you are not available, or to pray WITH you during your hour. It would be a great help to become familiar with the Adorers who adore at your hour on the other days of the week. It may help in finding a substitute, if necessary. You will find you will be able to depend on each other because of your valuable commitment to the Lord.

What if my prayer partner and myself are unavailable?
We ask that you try to call others from the Substitute List provided to you (copies in the Reservation Chapel are available also). If you fail to find a substitute please call your Hour Coordinator who is responsible to find someone to take your place.

What if someone does not relieve me when my time is finished?
We ask that you try to stay a few minutes extra if possible in the event they are running late, or there will soon be a phone in the hallway and you would call their Hour Coordinator who will find someone to relieve you.

Is it handicap accessed?
Yes. Accessibility is the main outside door at the north end of the Church.

How many people does the Reservation Chapel accommodate?
There are only seats for quiet, compelling adoration.

Are prayer pamphlets available?
Yes but we ask you to keep all materials in the chapel for the next person.

How do you know if someone has been there the entire time?
We ask each adorer to sign in showing their time and date.

Are there restroom facilities?
Yes, near the exterior chapel entrance.
