Our Mission

Church of the Resurrection Youth Ministry seeks to create an environment leading youth into a relationship with God through Jesus Christ and His Church. We want to empower youth into responsible participation in the life, mission, and work of the Catholic faith community. We work to foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person through a balance of advocacy, catechesis, community life, evangelization, justice and service, leadership development, pastoral care, and prayer and worship.

TEC (Teens Experiencing Christ)

Teens Experiencing Christ is our program for 6th - 8th graders. We've revamped the program so it's all new for 2007-2008!! Here's a look at what we're doing...

Friday Night Mini-Retreats! One Friday a month we'll camp out in the Ministry Center for an overnight of games, food, prayer, music, discussion, witness talks, and FUN!

Sunday Night Small Group Sharing! Since our Friday night retreats will be more focused on the fun stuff, we're going to use Sunday nights to "go deep"! We'll use illustrations, competitions, and team challenges to teach and discuss issues and topics. The purpose of these Sunday night sessions will be to challenge you to get closer to Christ and be more knowledgeable about our Faith. We will use lots of small group discussion to explore spiritual and social topics. Sunday nights are not for wimps! Be ready to be challenged and to grow!

Confirmation

Our Confirmation program is for students in 9th grade or older. Confirmation small groups meet on Sunday nights from 6-7:30 September through May, and will culminate in the Confirmation Mass, which will take place in the spring. The confirmation program is partially integrated with our senior high Youth Ministry program, so the students will develop relationships with peers who are active in their faith. The program also includes a weekend retreat, service requirements, and a morning of reflection for candidates and their sponsors.

CrossTraining

Senior high students at Church of the Resurrection meet every Sunday from 6 to 7:30 pm in the Ministry Center for our weekly fellowship. During this time we explore Scripture, prayer, social issues, and teen topics.

And, as if all this weren't enough, we also offer a senior high Bible Study every week from 12:30 to 1:30 pm at Starbucks on Market Street. All you need to bring is a Bible and a desire to understand the Word of God more fully!

Other senior high events include retreats, social gatherings, and service opportunities throughout the year.

C.I.Y. (Christian Initiation of Youth)

This program is designed for students in grades 6-12 who desire to be more fully welcomed into the Catholic Church. They begin preparation for the sacraments of Baptism, 1st Eucharist, and/or Reconciliation in September, and will be ready to receive the sacraments around Easter time. Classes will meet on Sundays from 5-6 pm.

Peer Ministry

Peer Ministry is a group of juniors and seniors who plan activities for and minister to Resurrection's middle school students. We meet various times throughout the month. This is a great way for high school students to hone a variety of skills including: leadership; public speaking; small group facilitation; faith sharing; organization; and planning.
